Children's Dentistry

Many parents are unaware of how important early dental care is in their children's overall health. Our office (and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) strongly recommend that if you are a parent, you should take early action to ensure the health of your child's teeth. This is because attitudes and habits are established at an early age, and are extremely important in maintaining good oral health throughout one's life. There are three very important points every parent should be aware of in regards to their children's dental health:

  • starting dental visits early;

  • getting enough fluoride and;

  • finding out about sealants.

Start Dental Visits Early

Drs. Black and Bass recommend that children begin their regular check-up visits at 2½ to 3 years of age, unless there appears to be a problem, in which case the child should be seen immediately.
